Engagement Location Inspiration

Jan 14, 2021

It’s that time of year again… The holidays are over and we’re left with the cold and dark melancholy that comes with winter weather. Looking out the window, it is hard to imagine enjoying the outdoors any time soon. While this is perfect for hunkering down and really getting into wedding planning, it can be unmotivating when thinking about your engagement session. Well, let’s flip that around, shall we? This is the ideal time to be planning your engagement session. For starters, you really want to book your session date before all the good ones get snagged. Secondly, thinking about and planning your session will give you something fun to look forward to once this dreary weather is behind us.

So, you’ve looked at our blog, you’ve seen your friends’ gorgeous engagement photos, you know what you WANT your photos to look like, but you are still clueless about where you want to do your session. We’re here to help! Here’s a guide to our absolute favorite places to shoot engagements in NJ.

Asbury Park, NJ

If you’re looking for the perfect mixture of urban and beach vibes, look no further than Asbury. Sunset Park provides green shaded areas with a lake and bridge to boot. Then there’s the downtown with its cute stores and alleyways. And of course, the beach and boardwalk are quintessential spots for photos.

Allaire State Park, NJ

If you’re a nature lover, Allaire is the perfect spot for romantic engagement photos. These towering woods have lovely trails and secret bridges waiting to be discovered. The old historic buildings in Allaire Village provide lovely backgrounds for our couples.

Hoboken, NJ

If it’s the city feel you’re looking for, Hoboken is the spot for you. The cobblestone streets, back alleyways, and historic buildings are the perfect backdrops for some seriously elegant photos. The train station and ferry station give us that cavernous space for secret romance. And is there anything more classic than sunset and the skyline by the water?

Spring Lake, NJ

We love everything about Spring Lake. The park provides many different spots for beautiful photos with greenery or the lake in the background. Then there’s the theater and library for more formal and dramatic looking photos. And every engagement session here is best ended with sunset by the beach.

Manasquan Doggy Beach, NJ

The “doggy beach” as it’s affectionately known, is a park-like area with sandy dunes and trails along the inlet. The tall grass and growing vines look different and unique every season and provide perfect backgrounds for epic photos. This area also gets some of the best golden hour light and sunsets we have seen anywhere.

Red Bank, NJ

If you want cutesy cool city vibes while staying local, Red Bank is perfect. The downtown area has a lot of great little stoops and alleys to stop at for fun photos. The park and waterfront area provide a contrasting, quieter location for more romantic shots.

Jersey City, NJ

If you want a more formal, elegant city shoot, Jersey City is perfect. The train depot is the perfect quaint backdrop. The streets and buildings lend a very chic air to the natural romance of an engagement shoot. And last but not least, the waterfront provides the perfect skyline to finish off the night.

Bayonet Farm in Holmdel, NJ

If you love all things rustic and country, this is the perfect spot for your engagement session. This massive farm boasts rolling green fields, tree-lined gravel pathways, wooden fences, and old farmhouse buildings. This is one of our favorite locations for engagement sessions!
