There are some sessions where the light just glows, it’s like stepping straight into a dream. That’s exactly what it was like during Emily and Pierce’s engagement session on an oddly warm October day at Manasquan Beach. Summer had technically ended, but no one told the weather—or the light. The sun hung low and poured pure gold over everything it touched, wrapping the shore, the dunes, and this sweet couple in the most magical glow.

Emily & Pierce arrived with their dog trotting happily by their side, tail wagging and tongue out, completely thrilled to be part of the adventure! We always love when couples include their pups, but this one felt especially fitting. It brought a sense of home and comfort to the session, an added softness and joy that made every moment feel even more personal. Watching the three of them together—hand in hand, leash in the other—was a reminder that love often looks like these simple, shared moments.

We began along the sandy paths where the woods meet the water, that perfect in‑between space where the world feels quiet and suspended. The light filtered through the trees in warm ribbons, catching on every leaf and grain of sand. As they walked, they would stop every so often for a twirl or to pull each other close, their laughter drifting into the stillness around us. Each time Pierce spun Emily, the sunlight seemed to find her all over again, setting the bride‑to‑be’s hair aglow like strands of fire and honey.

It truly felt like something pulled from a fairytale! The light wasn’t just beautiful—it was almost unearthly. It spilled through the tall reeds and seagrass, casting long, soft shadows and painting everything in a warm, golden haze. As the wooded path opened up, the dunes gave way to a wide stretch of beach, and the three of them paused there, framed by glowing grass and glowing sky.

Eventually, as all perfect evenings do, the light began to fade. The sun slipped below the skyline, and that brilliant gold slowly transitioned into soft blues and dusky pastels. The sky cooled, the sand deepened in color, and the entire scene shifted from radiant to serene. What had started as a session painted in warm, glowing light ended in a wash of gentle, calming tones—like the closing of a storybook. We wrapped up the session with the couple barefoot in the sand, their dog curled at their feet, the last hints of color stretching across the water. The golden light may have disappeared beyond the horizon, but its memory lingered in every laugh, every touch, and every frame we captured!
